On 3 January 2026, just after 7:00am, our volunteers arrived at the Vihara for the final preparations, ready to serve on this auspicious Full Moon morning.
By around 8:00am, devotees began to arrive. Many were happy to see one another again, greeting old friends and kalyāṇamittas, exchanging New Year wishes and warm smiles. The atmosphere was joyful and peaceful, and our volunteers patiently assisted everyone as devotees made offerings of the inscribed copper sutta and paid respect at the Buddha altar.
At the same time, several charity booths were set up in support of the establishment of Maha Karuna Vihara. These included Myanmar Grade A jadeite, succulent plants, T-shirts, and canvas bags, for those who wished to offer their support.
At about 9:00am, Most Venerable B. Sri Saranankara Nayaka Maha Thera entered the main shrine hall, holding the sacred Buddha relics, accompanied by members of the Maha Sangha. As they entered, all devotees stood quietly, with deep respect and devotion, to welcome the arrival of Sangha members.
Most Venerable Saranankara then led the devotees in taking the Three Refuges and the Five Precepts, followed by words of blessing. He also shared the meaning of the Inscribed Copper Sutta Enshrinement Ceremony, reminding us that while a new year often brings new hopes and plans, what truly matters is not neglecting our own practice — self-cultivation, reflection, building virtue, and continuing to grow spiritually, alongside our daily responsibilities. It was a gentle and meaningful reminder as we begin the year.
The message was translated into Mandarin by Sister Yee Shin. With faith and confidence, devotees chanted the blessings together and witnessed the enshrinement ceremony at the Buddha altar.
After the ceremony, blessing items were distributed by the Sangha, and devotees then proceeded for a vegetarian lunch.
At the end of the programme, volunteers gathered to receive blessings and kind words from Most Venerable B. Sri Saranankara Nayaka Maha Thera, who expressed his encouragement and appreciation for their selfless service and efforts in serving the community.
May all be well and happy. ![]()
