On 15th December 2024, the Interfaith Harmony Gathering was held at Berjaya Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, drawing leaders, scholars, and practitioners from a wide array of religious traditions, including Islam, Buddhism, Christianity, Sikhism, and Hinduism. The event, organized by the Vajrayana Buddhist Council Malaysia, Federation of Karma Kagyu Malaysia, and Kuan Yin Contemplative Order, with the support of Allied Coordinating Council of Islamic NGOs ACCIN, Global UNITY Network, Theravada Buddhist Council of Malaysia (TBCM), Maha Karuna Buddhist Society and Sasana Abhiwurdhi Wardhana Society (SAWS)
This event was crafted to foster mutual understanding, respect, and cooperation among different religious communities in an increasingly globalized world, with a significant focus on the local context in Malaysia.

He expressed deep gratitude for the unity shown by those gathered to this momentous occasion, reflecting on the shared responsibility to foster understanding and compassion among all people, regardless of belief. Most Venerable also extended his blessings, as Malaysia was honored with the presence of His Holiness the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa Rinpoche, whose wisdom and compassion further elevated the significance of the event.

Representing Buddhism, Venerable Sing Kan, highlighted the importance of compassion and mindfulness. Venerable shared the concept of Bramaviharas (4 immeasurable : Loving-kindness, Compassion, Empathetic Joy, Equanimity ) offers powerful principles that can guide how globalization and interfaith harmony can contribute to peaceful coexistence. Venerable emphasized the role of interfaith harmony is to foster peaceful coexistence, mutual understanding and building respect and tolerance in the community. Venerable that Buddhism not only teaches inner peace but also urges working together across faiths to create a just and harmonious society. She stressed that peace arises when individuals prioritize the well-being of others over self-interest, fostering collective compassion.
From the Sikh tradition, Dr. Charanjit Kaur, Assistant Professor at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, discussed the Sikh view of the intrinsic goodness of all beings, as reflections of the Divine. Her message focused on mutual respect and understanding, particularly in times of conflict. She emphasized that Sikh teachings promote the acceptance of all faiths and advocate for open dialogue as a tool for fostering unity and long-term peace.
Professor Dr. Suresh Govind, Coordinator of the Friendship Group of Inter-Religious Service, passionately addressed the power of collaborative service. He spoke about how acts of kindness and shared responsibilities across faiths can create a strong foundation for lasting peace. In addition to these enriching speeches, Shah Kirit bin Kakulal and Govindji, the moderator of the dialogue, played key roles in facilitating and guiding the discussion. Govindji skillfully integrated and facilitated the conversation. Through his adept moderation, he not only encouraged thoughtful discussions but also highlighted the critical role of interfaith cooperation in building a more harmonious society. Shah Kirit, with his engaging presence, actively participated in the dialogue, contributing valuable insights that deepened the collective understanding.
The event concluded with short reflection from Most Venerable Datuk K. Sri Dhammaratana Nayaka Maha Thera, highlighting the themes of peace, harmony, and mutual respect. His message was a call to action, reminding leaders to โ€œwalk the talkโ€ and embody the values they preach, emphasizing that true leadership in fostering interfaith harmony requires sincere action and commitment.
Dr. Amir Faridโ€™s closing remarks reinforced that interfaith efforts must go beyond rhetoric into everyday actions that promote kindness, understanding, and mutual support. He reminded all present that fostering interfaith unity requires continuous effort through acts of service, respect, and collaboration.
Sister Tee Siew See, the organizing chairperson delivered a heartfelt thank you speech and introduced the event-ending Muhibbah Dance, symbolizing the intent to promote interfaith harmony in Malaysia and beyond.
