On 9th of June 2023, a total of 7 cows were liberated in Sri Lanka under the Cow Liberation program organised by Maha Karuna Buddhist Society.
In Buddhism, giving fearlessness for other living beings is called as “Abhaya Dana” and it is one of the greatest Meritorious Deeds.
By liberating the cows, we support the beings to live a peaceful and happy life. Second, in long term we support the livelihoods of the underprivileged farmers (beneficiaries).
7 cows were liberated at Matugama under the coordination of Venerable Narawila Samithawansa Thero, the Chief Incumbent of Karampathara Sri Abhayarajarama in Matugama. At the same time, 24 children in the village were given school bag and stationeries.
