On 8 June 2023, Maha Sanghika Dana was offered at local time 11:30am with the presence of more than 300 Sangha Members at Sri Lanka Vidyalaya Maha Pirivenan, Colombo.
This program is specially organised for the podi hamutoruwo (young monks) from 6 remote area in the country that includes Anuradhapura, Balangoda, Kobeigane, Kegalla, Hambantota and Nikaweratiya. Senior sangha members who have been giving dhamma service abroad for years were also presented at the assembly before Sangha Dana, to give sharing and motivation to the junior monks.
Chief Reverend B Sri Saranankara Maha Thera focuses on the education development of young Buddhist monks. Such Sangha Dana assembly for young Buddhist Monks was held not less than 40 times in recent years.
This is also the first time visit of most of the young student monks to Colombo, being the capital city of the country. After Sangha Dana, young monks proceed with study tour at Colombo Lotus Tower which is also sponsored by Chief Reverend Saranankara and Malaysia devotees.
This Sangha Dana is performed with the support and coordination of many sangha members, Sri Lanka Vidyalaya Maha Pirivenan and local volunteers in the preparation to make it a successful one.
Beside that, text books were offered to 20 Pirivenan (monk training center) who attended the Sangha Dana; education dana was also offered to each Sangha members. While, Sri Saranankara Foundation offered bags to each monk.
We are grateful to be given opportunity to perform dana for members of Maha Sangha at the alma mater of Chief Reverend B Sri Saranankara Maha Thera. May the merits of Sangha Dana offering blessed upon each and every well wishers, sponsors and sentient beings for their happiness and well being.
