10 cows were being liberated on 10 June 2023 at Sirsuddarmaranaya Kumbuka North Gonapola Junction, Horana followed by the 7 cows liberated at Matugama on 9 June 2023. This brings to a total of 17 cows liberation this month in Sri Lanka.
The giving of non-fear (abhaya-dana) means acting in such a way that other beings do not have any cause to fear oneself. This is another name for the practice of loving-kindness (metta) and is based upon good moral conduct (sila), which includes the abstinence from harming all living beings. By liberating the cows, we support the beings to live a peaceful and happy life. Second, in long term we support the livelihoods of the underprivileged farmers (beneficiaries).
