Dhammapada Verse 83
𝐬𝐚𝐛𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐡𝐚 𝐯𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬ā 𝐜𝐚𝐣𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢,
𝐧𝐚 𝐤ā𝐦𝐚𝐤ā𝐦ā 𝐥𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢 𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐨.
𝐬𝐮𝐤𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐚 𝐩𝐡𝐮ṭṭ𝐡ā 𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐚 𝐯ā 𝐝𝐮𝐤𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐚,
𝐧𝐚 𝐮𝐜𝐜ā𝐯𝐚𝐜𝐚ṃ 𝐩𝐚ṇḍ𝐢𝐭ā 𝐝𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢
“Verse 83: Indeed, the virtuous one give up all; the virtuous do not talk with sensual desire; when faced with joy or sorrow, the wise shows neither elation nor depression.”
The teaching of Buddha, and his message of compassion, peace and goodwill have touched millions of people worldwide. His humble beginning and immense contribution to the propagation of Buddha’s teachings in many countries have changed the lives of many. The founding patriarch of Fo Guang Shan, 𝐕𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐇𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐘𝐮𝐧, being one of the most influential teachers of Buddhism in today society.
Let us honour a tremendous life well-lived by dedicating our mind to being in the moment, paying tribute and recall with gratitude all the exemplary contribution he had brought to the world. May Venerable Master Hsing Yun attain the highest bliss of Nibbāna.
