Today, 24th July 2021, is \u0100s\u0101lha Full-moon day,<\/div>\n

also known as Dhamma Day.<\/div>\n

The sermon, Buddha gave to the five monks, was his first sermon, called the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta SN56.11<\/div>\n
by expounding it to the Pa\u00f1cavaggiy\u0101, the Five Ascetics,<\/div>\n
comprising Konda\u00f1\u00f1a, (A\u00f1\u00f1\u0101 Konda\u00f1\u00f1a), Bhaddiya, Vappa,<\/div>\n
Mah\u0101n\u0101ma and Assaji at the Deer Park, Isipatana,<\/div>\n
near V\u0101r\u0101nas\u012b (Benares).<\/div>\n

The Tibetan tradition recognizes this (Chokhor Duchen) on the fourth day of the sixth lunar month (14 Jul 2021).<\/div>\n

Theravada traditions generally mark the date (Asalha Puja or Asanha Bucha) as the full moon of the eighth lunar month, which typically takes place in July.<\/div>\n

Important time a year for Theravada Buddhist monks and Vajrayana Buddhist monks is a three-months-long Vassa (\u7ed3\u590f\u5b89\u5c45\uff09 or \u2018Rains Retreat\u2019 period, or \u201cYarney\u201d Summer Retreat in Tibetan. It comes right after the full moon of Asalha month which is around July every year.<\/div>\n

Buddha started this tradition of rainy retreat in the year 588 BCE.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

While most of the Theravada Buddhist monks in Malaysia will start the vassa on 24 July 2021.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Most of the laity will offer food and daily need to Buddhist monks\/nuns at monasteries during this 3 months time in order to assist the renounced one able to have peace of mind in the retreat.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
At the end of the \u201cYarney\u201d in Vajrayana Buddhism, there will be ending puja with monks\u2019 debate and whole\/half night teachings.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
\u201cKathina\u201d is a Theravada Buddhist festival which comes at the end of Vassa. It is a time of giving, for the laity to express gratitude to Buddhist monks. Lay Buddhists bring offerings to temples, especially new robes for the monks. Also the gift of the attha parikara (in Sri Lanka it is known as Atapirikara \u0d85\u0da7\u0db4\u0dd2\u0dbb\u0dd2\u0d9a\u0dbb ) – the Eight Requisites – is part of the offerings.<\/div>\n

\u5bf9\u4e8e\u91d1\u521a\u4e58\u4f5b\u6559\u50e7\u4fa3\u548c\u4e0a\u5ea7\u90e8\u4f5b\u6559\u50e7\u4fa3\u6765\u8bf4\uff0c\u4e00\u5e74\u4e2d\u7684\u91cd\u8981\u65f6\u95f4\u662f\u4e3a\u671f\u4e09\u4e2a\u6708\u7684\u7ed3\u590f\u5b89\u5c45\u65f6\u671f\uff0c\u6216\u201c\u96e8\u95ed\u5173\u201d\u65f6\u671f\uff0c\u6216\u85cf\u8bed\u4e2d\u7684\u201c\u96c5\u5c3c\u201d\u590f\u95ed\u5173\u3002\u5b83\u6b63\u597d\u5728\u963f\u8428\u5c14\u54c8\u6ee1\u6708\u4e4b\u540e\u6bcf\u5e74\u4e03\u6708\u5de6\u53f3\u7684\u6708\u4efd\u3002<\/div>\n

\u5728\u91d1\u521a\u4e58\u4f5b\u6559\u7684\u201cYarney\u201d\u7ed3\u675f\u65f6\uff0c\u5c06\u4ee5\u50e7\u4fa3\u7684\u8fa9\u8bba\u548c\u6574\u591c\/\u534a\u591c\u7684\u6559\u4e49\u7ed3\u675f\u6cd5\u4f1a\u3002<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cKathina\u201d\u662f\u4e0a\u5ea7\u90e8\u4f5b\u6559\u8282\u65e5\uff0c\u5728\u74e6\u8428\u7ed3\u675f\u65f6\u5230\u6765\u3002\u8fd9\u662f\u4e00\u4e2a\u5e03\u65bd\u4f9b\u517b\u7684\u65f6\u95f4\uff0c\u662f\u5728\u5bb6\u4eba\u5bf9\u4f5b\u6559\u50e7\u4fa3\u8868\u8fbe\u611f\u6fc0\u4e4b\u60c5\u7684\u65f6\u5019\u3002\u5728\u5bb6\u4f5b\u6559\u5f92\u4e3a\u4f5b\u5bfa\u5e26\u6765\u6350\u732e\uff0c\u7279\u522b\u662f\u4e3a\u50e7\u4fa3\u63d0\u4f9b\u65b0\u7684\u8888\u88df\u3002\u8fd8\u6709 attha parikara \u7b49\u793c\u7269\uff08\u5728\u65af\u91cc\u5170\u5361\uff0c\u5b83\u88ab\u79f0\u4e3a Atapirikara \u0d85\u0da7\u0db4\u0dd2\u0dbb\u0dd2\u0d9a\u0dbb\uff09\u2014\u2014\u516b\u79cd\u5fc5\u8981\u6761\u4ef6\u2014\u2014\u4e5f\u662f\u4f9b\u54c1\u7684\u4e00\u90e8\u5206\u3002<\/div>\n
