On 06 September 2025, more than 210 devotees, including our dedicated volunteers, gathered joyfully at Maha Karuna Buddhist Society for the Inscribed Copper Sutta Enshrinement Ceremony and Transference of Merit to the Departed.
The program began with paying homage to the Triple Gem, the administration of the Five Precepts, and a Dhamma message by the Chief Reverend B. Sri Saranankara Nayaka Maha Thera. This was followed by the recitation of the suttas, the solemn enshrinement of the inscribed copper sutta, and devotees making offerings to the Members of Maha Sangha. The ceremony concluded with the dedication and transference of merits to all departed beings.
The inscribed copper sutta was reverently enshrined in the 4th of 9 compartments at the Buddhaโs lotus seat, symbolising profound devotion, the preservation of the Dhamma, and blessings for present and future generations.
The Most Venerable Sarananakara reminded us of the true purpose of such enshrinement and explained how the transference of merit works according to the Buddhaโs teaching. Through wholesome deeds, chanting, and sincere dedication, the living can share merit with departed relatives and all beings โ bringing them peace, support, and favorable conditions for rebirth. At the same time, this practice nurtures compassion, gratitude, and spiritual growth within ourselves.
The atmosphere was filled with smiles, joy, and serenity among all who attended. May this meaningful gathering inspire reflection, strengthen our practice, and deepen our understanding of the Dhamma. May all beings be well, enjoy everlastingย happiness, and realise the path of liberation.
