In response to the recent crisis in Myanmar, the Maha Karuna Buddhist Society Malaysia, together with our community, has extended humble support to the affected monastic and lay communities. Under the guidance of Chief Rev. Saranankara Nayaka Maha Thera, we have delivered essential aidโfood, water, medicine, and daily necessitiesโto hospitals treating injured monks, nuns, and laypersons.
Over the past few days, our relief efforts have reached the Myawadi Nunnery in Mandalay, supporting 280 nuns, as well as the Sakyadhitar group in the Sagaing Hills area, consisting of 250 nuns and novices. The Santisukha group, comprising 300 monks, nuns, and laypeople, also received much-needed provisions. Additionally, aid was extended to the Khemawarthi group, providing daily essentials to 200 nuns and novices. Special assistance was offered to those who have suffered life-altering injuriesโone monk, three novices, and two nunsโbringing them comfort, dignity, and the encouragement to heal and rebuild their lives.
As of today, 5 April 2025, our relief has successfully reached another 15 monasteries and 11 nunneries in the Sagaing Hills area. Our dedicated team in Myanmar continues to work tirelessly, delivering aid to other affected locations. On behalf of all the beneficiaries, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who have made this compassionate mission possible.
We are deeply grateful to the local sangha community and lay devotees for their dedication and effort in coordinating this relief mission. May their journey remain smooth, and may they be protected in their noble work.
