The Pilgrimage and Charity event in Sri Lanka reached its climax with a thousand Sangha Dana offerings. Delegates ascended to the Stupa at Ruwanweli Maha Seya, presenting a 300-meter-long Buddhist Flag as an offering. Subsequently, they warmly welcomed the arrival of the Maha Sangha and performed part of the Ten Thousand Maha Sanghika Dana with a contingent of 800 monks.
The Ruwanweli Maha Seya, also known as the Swarnamali Maha Seya or the Great Thupa, is a stupa located in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. It enshrines two quarts or one Dona of the Buddha’s relics, making it one of the largest collections of his relics anywhere. Constructed by the Sinhalese King Dutugemunu around 140 B.C., following his victory over the Chola King Elara, it is also referred to as the Swarnamali Seya and Rathnamali Seya.
Rejoice the merit of all Dharma friends who had participated in the 4th CNY 10,000 Maha Sanghika Dana.
May all beings be well and happy.
