Letting go of the past is not always an easy thing to do. Unfortunately, we all face difficult challenges and situations in life that can make it hard to let go and move forward with our lives. Some common examples are, letting go of a past negative experience, difficulty accepting how we were raised and learning how to forgive others. Difficulty letting-go is an issue that frequently in arise in our practice but it could be a good point for us to check our practise as well.
Bhante Dr. Soorakkulame Pemaratana, born in Sri Lanka, went to the United States in 2008 to serve in the Pittsburgh Buddhist Center. Bhante Pemaratana became a Buddhist monk in 1986 at the age of 10 years old. His monastic training was under the tutelage of the most Venerable Attangane Sasanaratana Maha Thero at Sripathi Pirivena Monastery in Kuliyapitiya, Sri Lanka.
He received his Ph. D. in Religious Studies at the University of Pittsburgh in April 2017. He is currently the Chief Abbot of the Pittsburgh Buddhist Center.
