盂兰盆节是佛教徒缅怀祖先、普渡行孝的重要节日；亦适逢僧众结夏安居，佛教徒供佛斋僧行布施。
惟今年盂兰盆节仍在疫情环境下，马来西亚宏慈佛教会不设实体盂兰盆法会。大和尚斯里沙拉南长老慈悲应许，让义工行政团队接收并整理名单以供大和尚为信众诵经祈求以此功德回向信众之先人，尤其方便居住远处之佛弟子无法前往佛堂为已故亲人做功德之遗憾。
即便如此，信众仍可透过二零二一年八月廿一日晚间的网络共修，各自于家中，在大和尚的带领下诵孟兰盆经回向功德于已故有情。
于二零二一年八月廿二日 （农历7月15日）佛欢喜日，宏慈佛教会将代表参与结夏安居供僧活动之善信，于斯里兰卡，印度，不丹，玉树青海，尼泊尔，孟加拉及越南等地区俞50几所佛寺及僧侣僧尼佛学院进行供千僧。
马来西亚宏慈佛教会祈愿在这疫情期间，佛弟子可表达孝思，为先人行善修福的同时，现世人亦可得平安，冥阳两利。
以此功德祈求佛陀的慈悲愿力加被，全球疫情早日缓解，国泰民安；现世父母身心安康，增福延寿；已故父母及祖先往生善趣或早登净土；三途八难的众生超生离苦；十方有情消灾增福，早证菩提。
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐚 𝐅𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥 is an important day for Buddhists to commemorate their departed loves ones and to perform filial piety. It also coincides with the monks rainy retreat period, that Buddhist offering alms and dana requisites to the Sangha members.
However, this year Ullambana Festival is still under the pneumonia epidemic. The Malaysia Maha Karuna Buddhist Society did not hold any ground prayer ceremony for the purpose. The great monk, Chief Rev B. Sri Saranankara Maha Thero is compassionate to let the voluntary administrator team receive and sort out the name list from public, for sutras recitation and merit transference to the ancestors of the devotees. It is especially to let the devotees have no regrets, for those who live far away that not able to go to the temple for meritorious deeds in the name of the departed one or those unable to visit the graves.
Even so, devotees can still practice together through the network on the evening of 21 August 2021, reciting the sutras at home, and perform the merits transference to the departed loved ones under the guidance of the Chief Reverend B.Sri Saranankara.

The Malaysia Maha Karuna Buddhist Society hopes that during this epidemic, Buddhist disciples can express filial piety and commemorate their ancestors, and while doing good deeds for the ancestors, the the living sentient beings live in peace. Both are benefited.
With this merit, we pray that the Three Jewels blessings will be strengthened, and the global epidemic will be relieved as soon as possible, and the country and the people will be peaceful; the present parents will be physically and mentally healthy, increase happiness and prolong life; deceased parents and ancestors will be reborn at a better place or attain ultimate bliss of nibbana; The ten directions sentient beings are blessed and free from sufferings, and soon achieve enlightenment.
